Abdykacja papieża Benedykta XVI nastąpiła w okolicznościach , kiedy zadecydował on o opublikowaniu dokumentów  watykańskich n.t. tzw. “holocaustu”.

Publikacja miała być  dowodem na to, że Watykan – przez okres II WS – nie posiadał jakiejkolwiek dokumentacji na ten temat.
