All this talk about better "educating Americans about Polish history" is a pipe dream. We do not have the influence to do any such thing.
Here are two practical, political actions we should take immediately:
- Poles in the West should warn President Trump that he is committing political suicide if he signs Act S.447. If he does so, Polish-Americans will be instructed not to vote for Trump. With the likely loss of the Pol-Am-endowed swing states of Ohio and Pennsylvania, President Trump can forget about being re-elected in 2020.
- Poland should withdraw from the Terezin Declaration. To add to the mockery of the farce voice vote that passed Act S.447, the decision of the Sejm (Polish parliament) to withdraw from the Terezin Declaration should be done by voice vote.
[The political cost of staying with Terezin, and giving an opening to the Restitution Mafia (a. k.a. the Holocaust Industry), is much greater than the political cost of quitting Terezin now.]
