FAUSTIAN MAN
Book review and commentary by B. Chapinski
This is a small book. It only contains 244 pages. The author, Ricardo Duchesne, is a very interesting fellow. He's well-rounded, has a decent education -was a university professor- and is concerned about the lying media. He composed his book before the childish impeachment proceedings revealed plenty about corruption in what many call La CessPool Grande’s Deep State. The title of the book won’t induce buyers.
Prof. Duchesne is quite diplomatic. He doesn't cross many acknowledged politically incorrect rivers on unstable bridges. In fact his concerns about what makes Western civilization special is similar to what’s all over cyberspace. Essentially he believes ethnocentrism is okay; it’s a healthy human trait. Like countless millions of others, he doesn't appreciate the downplaying of achievements within Western civilization. Thus, we have his book.
I immensely enjoyed his first chapter pertaining to Greeks and the uniqueness of Western civilization. As a child I grew up near a Greek-American cultural center and had many Greek-Am friends. Consequently, I was familiar with Greek culture which is the foundation of not only Western civilization, but a great deal of Slavic civilization. Before I had bypass X6 surgery I was quite proficient in the Russian language. Moreover, for decades I have been reading in the Polish language just like my beloved deceased Polonian-Am dziadek (grandfather). I can also dabble in Czech, Slovakian and other languages. Thus, I was fascinated by Duchesne’s take beyond his personal environment. He resides in Canada.
His view on riding down the evolutionary highway was fascinating. We have gone from feudalism’s nobility, to kings, to parliamentary assemblies, to the influence of transnational corporatists. He refers to how Greeks drove down the evolutionary autostrada via their intellectual drawing board; mainly, according to Polybius and others, the drawing board depicted primitive tyranny, replaced by aristocratic rule, followed by democracy and finally mob rule. In brief we see savagery, order and then a return to barbarian traits. Like me, he probably was in a French speaking school as a kid.
RD goes from the Roman Empire and touches hedonistic lifestyles and the spread of non-Western technology from Asia. Those of us who love the Japanese and others took this in like dessert after a delicious meal. He mentions civilizational cycles and speaks about China (which is ethnically 92% Han). Surprisingly a cyber friend of mine, Peter Myers, had just posted info about the lack of Chinese females, due to a former one child policy. It’s no secret that Beijing is attempting to assimilate the Uighur via marriage within the Han community. Those going after Whitey wouldn’t dare go after the Chinese.
We read that the nature of civilization comprises kinships, culture, traditions, blood ties, ethnicity and other variables. That it is a living, pulsating fact. (p. 11) As most scholars, Duchesne acknowledges Chinese overall define their people by race, blood and culture. From here. the book enters muddy waters. It refers to Western egalitarianism, a slew of authors and demographic changes of some European cities in which I have ambulated. He mentions a worldwide acknowledged fact, that is no secret. Here, he threads lightly by noting that countless trillions of dollars have been spent to close the educational gap between whites and blacks, but the effort has not been successful. Much of what he says has also been written by African-Americans. Black authors refer to the fear of instituting discipline in inner city schools. Any examination of the documentation verifies what Duchesne delicately touches upon. His labor is nothing like the calculating work in The Bell Curve, a world famous book.
Moreover, Duchesne extracts widely accepted material pertaining to in-group favoritism and Detroit. MoTown is a metropolis well known by me. In my youth I saw the riots in which not only 2,000 homes burnt down, but the population went from around two million to about half a million. The demographic change was more than a travesty. (p. 20) After the conflict media asserted not enough had been done for the minority. Decades later, a movie came out to put the blame on police. The author correlates this by referring to several other cities. However, if you want to see the similarities, which are quite extensive, it's best to purchase the author’s scholarship.
In some ways he seems to try to skirt the topic of IQ. He kindly indicates there is much more to civilization than IQ and a lot pertains to behavior. (p. 22) He then moves away from the USA to Canada. He tells us it's a natural inclination for people to identify with their own kin. He emphasizes that Asian communities in Canada retain cultural cohesiveness. He also cites that Vancouver has a Chinese lifestyle that is similar to Hong Kong. He tells us these changes are also seen in economic terms. Houses in Vancouver now cost over $1 million. On the other hand, houses in Detroit have dropped to $7,000. (p. 23) The author denotes that Asian migrants are Interested in assimilating to aspects that allow them to keep their own ethnic identity; to advance their own ethnic interests. This might not be advantageous to profit-gain agendas of corporatists, but it has zilch, nic, zero to do with hate. It’s a natural inclination.
For some reason, when referring to the cultural civil war, he essentially skips the battle pertaining to feminism and gender regarding mainstream proclivity. Also, rather than unnecessarily putting his hand on a hot potato, he cites the labor of the astute Dr. Frank Salter. Salter often centers upon those of European heritage being coerced into celebrating other cultures and feeling guilty about their own identity. It’s noted that the members of a race share more genetic variables with one another than they do with others. One of the reasons for unnecessary antagonisms is that government, political and education authorities often prohibit those of European background from exhibiting awareness of their own peoplehood. (p. 16) Satler infers that overall Western Man has come under the heavy influence of the profit-gain corporatists and liberal elites. They have little identification with their own people and are committed to such things as diversification and cheap labor. (p. 37)
Like many studies pertaining to ethnicity the author refers to the Funnel Breaker Culture’s smooth transition to the Corded Ware kultura. Duchesne, like many others, speaks about cave paintings, the Corded Ware era and people who share similar traits. He touches upon new genetic studies. I did a lot of speed reading in this chapter. The reason for this is because super computers, in the near future, will eradicate and/ or radically alter many of today’s assertions. As for culture, the book notes that stone age European art from 30,000 years ago is on a much higher level than another place referred to.
Like other books I have recently read, here there is info pertaining to DNA types and mutations. The author refers to the domestication of animals, Greeks referring to themselves as Europeans and some Romans indicating their environment was a melting pot. We read about an obvious fact. We are told there's a similarity between Slavic speakers. (p. 67) The readership learns what the Slavic community deems is obvious; mainly, Slavs are more similar across natural boundaries than non-Slavic nations. As for our Hungarian brothers, Magyars are genetically Slavic, despite their Ugic language. It is also stated that Bulgarians fit in the category mentioned about Magyars. That is not what I have read. Bulgaria has a large Turkish segment in its community. Perhaps I missed something.
We read that Indo-Europeans colonized Europe. We are told they came from the region of present day Ukraine. (p. 76) Two other books recently consumed follow that path.
This study then mentions where new elements flooding into old established states are coming from. Regardless what the facts are, demographic changes have been due to one recent political attribute: Mass immigration. It has flooded into France, Angela Merkel’s Germany, Sweden and the UK. The indigenous populations were not asked if they wanted that expensive change. This emphatically proves how much politicians think of their constituents. If they do not abide by the wishes of their constituents the system needs to be changed.
Then, for some reason, the author goes back to the Hellenistic world. Back then the Greek language was the Lingua Franca for much of the civilized world. It was like Latin became and what English is today. Essentially, to a great extent, the Mediterranean Sea was a Greek lake. The towns and settlements contained many Greek merchants, aristocrats, nobility and City States. The author rightfully tells us Greek culture was absorbed by the Romans. (p. 80) Of course, as we all know, the Roman Empire eventually broke into two parts. The Eastern section, Byzantium, was about Greek mercantile practices, kultura; Greek language, instead of Latin. It sat with the upper class in literature and Christianity became the religion. The Western part evolved into a Catholic Europe. (p. 83) Constantinople, from around 715 to 1453, was one of the preeminent cities of mankind.
It has been argued that Greek Orthodox Christianity kept Russia from obtaining some of the achievements attributed to Rome. This is more than dubious. Russia did not have cities close to one another like those in daily competition within the Benelux countries and the German states. Those who have driven across the vast spaces of Mother Russia can understand why only modern metropolitan communities, like St. Petersburg (Leningrad), Moscow or Smolensk could rival those of Western Europe.
Further, places like Paris or Berlin were not ravished by Mongol invasions that Russia experienced. They can thank the efforts the Poles at the battle of Legnica (1242) in which the Mongol forces were decimated (halting the destruction of Germanic states). Legnica was like the 1920 Battle of Warsaw when the Poles stopped the Bolsheviks. On second thought, it more closely resembled the battle at the Gates of Vienna (1683 ) when Sobieski stopped the Ottoman Empire from occupying Austria, and advancing westward. Those intrigued by civilization might want to check out Sobieski’s history. While Europeans fought one another, Sobieski battled against the Ottoman Empire for decades.
I was surprised to see that the author was so fair in his argumentation that he spoke about the Russians having the first human spaceflight, the first spacewalk, the first space exploration rover and the first space station. (p. 93) Nearing the halfway point in Duchesne’s labor his venture brought us to Latin America. This section speaks about study grants, monopolies, commercial activities and literature. He tells us about a 2010 Nobel Prize Laureate, Mario Vargas Llosa. llosa advocated for a mestizo continent. The author tells us that Llosa’s desires about miscegenation apparently neglected the wishes of over 2,000 Indian communities who were seeking to retain their racial makeup, folkways and ancestral lands. (p. 98) The readership is informed about many regions that are white, such as Argentina, Uruguay and large sections of Brazil. I attended university classes with people from Argentina and Uruguay. They were just as white as any within the Anglo, Germanic or Slavic communities.
The concluding thoughts in this chapter touch upon our author’s area of residence. As late as 1971 Canada was 96% EuroCanadian. Since then Toronto and Vancouver have radically changed in demographic aspects. It is estimated that by 2031 approximately one third of Canadians will be minorities. According to the author, there will be a mongrelization of Canada. It’s being promoted by media, education and politicians. Justin Trudeau deems it’ll be better. Duchesne doesn’t go there.
Prof. Duchesne, like countless thousands of others, insists that in order to downplay the uniqueness of Western accomplishments, media and education facilities are blaming Europeans for the backwardness of other civilizations. He reminds me of a black professor who once told me that sub-Saharan Africa developed differently than European civilization. In the 1960s he thought that the best thing ever to happen on the Dark Continent was the building of European cities, homes, highway systems and irrigation. I heard the same thing from African students in what was once East Germany, the Peoples’ Republic of Poland and the Soviet Union. The author tells us that today students are indoctrinated to deem Europeans are lucky; they obtained wind-fall profits from slavery. Numerous funded journals promote similar ideologies.
The author asserts that the goal of his book is to inform about misleading information sources, the concealing of facts, the misinterpreting of evidence and violating the principles of historical objectivity. (p. 103) He spends pages going over dubious funded propaganda. He then refers to Charles Murray’s book, Human Accomplishments. We read that it was the Greeks who formulated about logical thinking, the history of logic, etc. Even Roman engineering gained from the Greeks. In brief, most of modern science has been a European affair. Duchesne also speaks about an academic claiming Muslims built much of the foundation responsible for Euro Man’s success. It was another view or strategy to promote globalism and create a new economic man.
Like most others the author tells us that the central premise of multiculturalism is to undermine national cohesiveness, identities and insist that all cultures are equal in achievements. (p. 124) One of the ploys for robbing Europeans of their heritage is to erase historical memories of success. Most minorities do not even know that it was the white man who is responsible for eradicating slavery (while it continued to exist in many non-European parts of the world). Few know that there is a plethora of scholars who consider Africans, Asians, Europeans and others to be different varieties of humanity. (p. 144)
On the other hand, history has not only been rewritten by liars obtaining grants. There are blogs in cyberspace, composed by graduates of prestigious universities. They are falsifying that the original Greeks were not Euros but Afros and their accomplishments were because of black cognitive ability. That may seem childish, however, some of these sites have large memberships. This speaks volumes within psychological realms.
As for Prof. Duchesne’s approach to the prevailing cultural civil war in Western Civilization, he does not insult anyone. His emphasis is on accomplishments. He does make comparisons. For example, when referring to the Sultan, he does not ponder about harems. Instead he touches upon mamluk warriors, indicating they were not free. He barely touches the Dark Continent and seems to leave that to future scholars.
RD gives credit to much within ancient China. At the same time he relates to a study by Charles Murray that reiterates about 97% of accomplishments within scientific inventories occurred in Europe and North America from 800 BC to 1950. Although he mentions disparities in today's academic environment, he wants his readers to know that most disciplines were created by Europeans. It’s also fact, that although Whites have been maligned, they fought for the welfare of non-whites and females.
The author tells us that Faustian Personality is highly energetic. It’s goal based and supersedes the norm. It’s like a soul driven by a dynamic extensive psyche. The author speaks about explorers. Almost all explorers have been of European heritage. (p. 200) The Greek Eratosthenes (276 - 185 BC) calculated the spherical size of earth, within 5% of its true measure. On the other hand, the Chinese supposition that the earth was flat, remained unchanged until Jesuit missionaries introduced their ideas in the 17th century.
The Egyptians, the Maya and the Chinese were relatively restricted to their immediate surroundings. There was little contact between the two cultural centers in the Americas, between the Aztecs and the Incas. During this period that was not the case with world exploring Europeans.
I feel sorry for the author. He’s an intellectual, has a good pen and talent. In a different age he could've been quite famous. Most important he could have influenced masses of people. There’s a probability that he laboured on this book to induce open communique. The title of his work won’t entice buyers.
